In a quiet little village where the nights were so dark that the stars seemed close enough to touch, lived a young boy named Mark. Every year, Mark eagerly awaited New Year’s Eve, excited for the fireworks, celebrations, and time spent with his family. But this year, something else filled his thoughts.
On the last evening of the year, while his family prepared dinner, Mark stood in the snowy yard, staring up at the sky. He had a wish—one so special that he’d never spoken it aloud.
Deep in his heart, Mark wanted just one thing: for his grandfather, who had been unwell all year, to be healthy and happy again. He longed for the days when they would laugh and play together like they used to. Mark knew this wasn’t the kind of wish that fireworks or presents could grant.
As he gazed at the sky, a bright shooting star streaked across the darkness. Closing his eyes tightly, Mark whispered:
“Shooting star, please make Grandpa strong and happy again.”
Later that night, as the clock ticked closer to midnight, Mark returned inside. His family gathered around, excitedly counting down to the New Year. When the clock struck twelve, and the fireworks lit up the sky, there was a gentle knock at the door.
Mark’s father opened it to find a strange, kind-looking old man dressed in a long white coat. The man introduced himself as Mr. Star and said, “New Year’s wishes are special—they hold a unique kind of magic. I’m here to help fulfill Mark’s wish.”
Mark watched in awe as Mr. Star sprinkled shimmering stardust into the air above their dining table. The dust sparkled and floated gently, finally settling over his grandfather, who had been quietly sitting in his chair.
The Miracle Unfolds
The next morning, Mark couldn’t believe his eyes. His grandfather was already sitting at the table with a radiant smile.
“Come on, Mark,” he said with a chuckle. “Show me how to win at this board game of yours!”
Mark’s heart leaped with joy. He didn’t fully understand how it had happened, but he knew that his wish had come true.
From that year forward, Mark made it a tradition to gaze at the stars every New Year’s Eve, remembering the magic that a simple, heartfelt wish could bring. Although Mr. Star never returned, Mark believed that the magic of love and hope lived in the moments he shared with his family.
